ADDITIONS
What is an Addition?
When you feel your house is too small and you need some more space or an extra bedroom or two or a larger kitchen and you add Square Feet to your existing home, this is called an Addition.
What does it take to get plans approved for the Addition?
It depends on the project, but typically you will need the following plans:
1. The Existing Plans (As-Built Plans) showing the exact location of walls, windows, doors and fixtures.
2. The Demo or Demolition Plan - Showing what walls, windows, doors and fixtures are to be removed.
3. The Proposed Plans - Showing the new layout of the remodeled spaces.
4. Door & Window Schedules - Showing the size and locations of any new doors and windows.
5. Proposed Elevations - Showing how the house will look on all sides that have the new addition.
6. Proposed Sections - Showing how the house will be constructed by making a cut through the house (Section)
7. Proposed Roof Plan - Showing how the new roof will work with the existing room (if you are keeping any of the existing roof)
8. Low Impact Development Plan - Showing how you will capture all of the rainwater off the new roof areas.
Other Plans and engineering will be required depending on the scope of work.
